Unforgettable holidays in oman!
Oman is a country with so much to offer the intrepid explorer; lush green ravines are wedged between huge mountain ranges; countless sand dunes are like veins through arid deserts and natural turquoise pools bejewel the red landscape. Visit the emerald, green pools at Wadi Shab where you can swim through caves to a spectacular waterfall!
Oman has been voted to be one of the cleanest and safest places in the world to travel to. Omanis are fiercely proud of their country, and rightly so - the beautiful mosques sit beside buildings that are clearly influenced by its overseas links, such as the Portuguese Forts at Nizwa.By decree of the King, all houses and buildings in Muscat are white, giving the capital a clean and dazzling aura.
Oman is full of surprises and there's so much to see - here are some of our suggestions:
- The capital city of Oman is Muscat, a feast for the senses, with Arabic architecture to see at every turn. It’s home to the impressive Royal Opera House, Sultan Qaboos Mosque and Muttrah Souq. The Sultan Qaboos Mosque is the most important spiritual site in Oman. It opened in 2001 and is an architectural marvel. Both men and women are required to wear long sleeve tops and long trousers, women must also cover their hair.
- The Muttrah Souq is the one of the oldest souks, or bazaar markets, displaying produce from Omani, Indian and African cultures living in this diverse city. Find everything from fresh produce to household goods and souvenirs in this authentic Arabic market.
- Why not go on a boat trip and spot some dolphins? It’s almost a guarantee that you’ll see the inquisitive pod that live in the harbour here, they love to swim close and say hello.
- Bimmah Sinkhole is one the most incredible natural swimming pools you’ll ever see. The water is crystal clear and bright turquoise in colour, the perfect place to cool down in the heat of the day!
- Take a trip to the ancient city of Sur, historically a maritime trading point with East Africa. The remaining African population of Sur is large and it’s still one of the largest ports to build wooden ships in the Middle East. Sur is a beautiful town backed by majestic mountains on one side, and a lighthouse looking out to sea on the other.

At Ras al Jizn Turtle Reserve in the coastal village away from the noise of the city, you can watch baby turtles hatch along the beaches safely - not something you can do on every holiday!
