DAZZLING HOLIDAYS IN LAS VEGAS!
Welcome to Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps! A colourful, fun oasis in the middle of the Nevada desert, Vegas is one of the most visited cities in the world. Once a small stopover outpost for trains traversing the arid area, it’s now a mecca of casinos, shows, and great entertainment!
Las Vegas’ central hub is known as The Strip, where you’ll find the glitziest attractions in town. It’s a 4.2-mile stretch filled with dancing fountains, neon signs, and extravagant casinos! Start at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino with its large private beach, and, if you’re brave enough, walk all the way to The Stratosphere at its furthest peak, around a 90-minute walk without stopping. The Strat is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States from which you can view the Strip - and most of Las Vegas - in its entirety.
Head to the famous Las Vegas sign for a picture opportunity, pause to take in the fantastic water and light show at the Bellagio Fountains, pop into the Venetian for an indoor gondola ride, and, of course, make sure you have coins for chips if you’d like to try your luck in some of the world’s most famous casinos!
Explore the darker side of Sin City with a trip to the Mob Museum. This not-for-profit permanent public awareness museum focuses on the crime and punishment revolving around Vegas’ mob connections, as well as the impact of organised crime on American society. A truly unique and fascinating attraction.
Of course, a trip to Las Vegas isn’t all about gambling. The city sits beside Red Rock Canyon, a National Conservation area within the stunning Nevada desert. Just a few miles from downtown, you can do a 12-mile loop of the beautiful red rocks with their distinctive flora and fauna, robust wildlife, and stunning hiking trails.
There’s so much to do in Las Vegas - why not try some of these great activities?
• See glitzy Las Vegas in style with a helicopter tour of the city. Take in the scenery from high above Sin City, and for extra flashiness, take a night-time tour when Vegas is lit up like a firework!
• Hire a dune buggy and follow a guide out into the desert - what better place to zoom around off road than in these incredible sandy dunes? Don’t fancy driving? Then go out with others in a 4-person buggy, or let an instructor do the hard work while you enjoy the thrill of the ride!
• There are so many shows available in Las Vegas that there’s something for everyone! Whether you’re a fan of acrobats, magicians, burlesque, or great live music and, often, famous artists, head to the strip for a night you’ll never forget.
• Head downtown to Container Park, a little oasis for calm just off wild Fremont Street. Here you’ll find a small shopping district with great shopping and little cafes for a break from the bright lights.

Hoover Dam
Only a few miles from Las Vegas is the iconic Hoover Dam, bridging the gap between Nevada and Arizona. This was the highest dam in the world when it was built in 1935, and the concrete arch’s base is the size of two football fields. You can visit the damn via bus tour from downtown Las Vegas. Stand at the centre of this feat of engineering and you’ll literally have your feet in two states! Explore the tunnels under the dam itself and let a guide describe the perils of building such an enormous structure in the middle of the great Colorado river. You can even book a helicopter ride up the river, which meanders through this popular desert, and right over the top of this impressive dam!
