Luxury Holidays in Phuket!
Bright blue waters, shimmering beaches, tree-fringed cliffs, year-round sunshine - welcome to paradise. The island of Phuket is the largest in Thailand and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world! With over 30 beaches in total, the southern beaches are usually packed full of tourists, so if you’re there in the busy season between November and May, head to the North coast where you might even get a beautiful glistening beach all to yourself.
This is one of the most photographed places on the planet, and it’s no surprise. The stunning scenery is as beautiful as the array of architectural wonders on this Chinese-influenced Thai island. There are Chinese and Buddhist temples dotted all around the island, a lasting legacy of cultures that have lived here for thousands of years. Take a guided tour from Phuket town and learn about the rich history of this fascinating island.
The best way to take in Phuket and the many small, incredibly beautiful islands and beaches around it is by boat. Hire canoes and make your way from beach to beach at your leisure. Or take a half or full day boat tour, complete with lunch, and see the main sites such as James Bond Island, named after it was featured in the film ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. Other great sites to visit by boat are the azure waters of Phi Phi, the Viking cave at Maya Bay, or the emerald waters of Pileh Bay.
If those aren’t enough stunning sites to see, here are a few more incredible activities to try in Phuket:
- Visit the elephants at the island’s Elephant sanctuary in Thalang. The picturesque park setting is home to over 15 rehabilitated sick and elderly elephants who spend their time safely roaming this wonderful site.
- Take a boat trip to Racha island, one of the many islets just off the Phuket coast and go snorkelling in the clearest waters. This sheltered spot is a great place to get up close and personal with the colourful marine life that call these warm waters home.
- Visit Phuket town, which is an attraction in itself. It’s a tapestry of cultural influences, with colourful 19th-century shophouses and Sino-Portuguese buildings lining the famous Thalang Road. Much like the Chinese influences of the island, you’ll notice the effects of international trade, such as Italian tiled houses and French style bistros.
- If you’ve had your fill of amazing beaches, then why not try exploring the cave systems, zipline across tropical forests, or take a tandem paraglide over stunning secluded beaches. This is the perfect backdrop for you biggest outdoor adventure yet!

The Great Buddha of Phuket
Wherever you are on the south of the island, you’re probably able to see the Big Buddha, sitting high on Nagakerd hill. It’s the third tallest statue in Thailand, fully completed in 2017, and is of the buddha Gautama. This white marble giant is dedicated to the late King of Thailand and is the most important landmark on the island. Although you can see him for miles around, it’s worth ascending the hill to stand beside this 45-metre jaw-dropping statue to really understand what a feat of engineering and cultural importance the Big Buddha is!
